Midway Atoll: Sea Attack!
Protect your position on Midway to stop the enemy from extending their defensive perimeter.
In Midway Atoll, you are facing two main paths of naval unit waves that come from the bottom right and top center of the map towards your base in the bottom left for 20 waves. There are two islands, the larger of which is better for placing turrets. The top path will also split between the small and large island to occasionally curve around either side, so keep this in mind. Finally, there is a ground base of yours seen on the main land to the left, but it can be ignored as it will remain untouched and function as nothing more than scenery in this level.
This guide will cover how to get a Full House, which is a perfect round with all medals and 20 victory points, on the Midway Atoll level of the iBomber Defense Pacific campaign, played on Veteran difficulty. In addition, this mission guide will cover the secondary objective and hidden target along with a walkthrough video.
Secondary Objective
Protect your supply ships.
On the bottom right portion of the map, there’s a series of parked boats at a dock; these are the supply ships you will have to protect for the secondary objective. The best way to do this is with a turret at the end of each of the wooden docks at first and on the concrete one with time. Also, it is best to destroy the crate on the docks with regular weapons fire as dropping a bomb has a very high chance of collateral damage.
Supply Crates: 6
Victory Points Spent: 80
- Machine Gun lvl 3
- Cannon lvl 3
- Bomb lvl 3
Perks used for this mission:
- Greenback I
- Eagle Eye I
As always, the extra money at the start of the level can make a big difference. We now swap out the extra bomb for faster aiming for all turrets since there is more time to build up bombs to use, anyways. This perk is helpful for making the most out of a few well-placed guns.
Hidden Target
The hidden target is real easy to find (as long as you know what to look for) in this mission. At the bottom center of the map on the southern part of the mainland, you will find the orange warehouse in the picture above. Bombs away.
Turret Placement
Placing turrets in Midway Atoll on veteran will focus on first getting a pair of Machine Guns on each of the ends of the wooden docks by the supply ships, then keeping these turrets repaired. However, keep them at level 1 for the majority of the mission, as these are meant to simply soak up fire for now.
Another pair of machine guns, this time upgraded, can be placed on the north and south sides of the large island, with the southern turret’s upgrades prioritized. Then work on a cannon on the center of the island, so it covers both main paths, and a second on the end of the concrete pier to give your supply ships a full turret shield. A single bomb turret will be sufficient, upgraded occasionally, to help break open some of the crates and hit the hidden target.
As you work towards Wave 20, try to get another Cannon (with one of the two being upgraded) on the central island where both have coverage of both main paths. This island is the best point to funnel most of your funds, since there is the best turret coverage here. Finally, putting some money into a second bomb turret and one of the two at level 3 will allow you to finish breaking open crates, then turn to assisting with the defense with well-placed bombs.
